Alcalatén Tiles. Quality and design tiles
Castillo Alcalaten
The logo of our company represents the Alcalaten castle

Our adventure began in 1987, and although it may sound bohemian, at that time we were firmly convinced to combine inspiration and dedication with technology and design, and to stop selling a simple product and instead, to sell an authentic work of art. Our dream was ambitious, but since then we have tried it and from time to time we think we succeeded.

Alcalatén

Etymologically, Alcalatén has a long history. It is a word which comes from Arabic meaning “the two castles.” One of these two is the castle of Alcalatén, owned by one of the founding families of this company. A fortress built between the tenth and thirteenth centuries gives name to the surrounding region.

Alcora

Alcora is the town where our facilities are located. It is situated here because it is where we have clay and glazes needed for the production of ceramics. This characteristic is what has given Alcora its long tradition of tile manufacturing with the first Alcora ceramic factory being founded in 1727 by the IX Count of Aranda.

This nobleman, who had visited the French ceramic factories, tried to bring European manufacturing processes to renew the traditional Spanish manufacturing. Almost 3 centuries later, the legacy of the Count of Aranda has made Alcora surrounded by numerous industries of the sector, a circumstance that makes us one of the most important regions in the global manufacturing of ceramic material.
