When we first started to develop our first model with these types of leaves, we noticed their great resemblance to the plants used to elaborate coffe. We investigated and found a name and a plant that match our model perfectly, it was Tanaman Kopi, the indonesian name for the coffe plant.

From there onwards, we took the coffe brought by Columbus from America and that has become popular due to the italian influence and comercial names as a base, we adjusted the colours and voilà, Ristretto, Arpeggio, Capuccino, Machiatto and Latte were born.

We started 2010 with great vibrations from the fairs we decided to attend. Now, after half a year and after having witnessed the clients reactions towards our products, we can say the outcome has been very positive and that we have confidence in the recovery of the export markets.

Karlovy Vary takes its name from the Check city, known worldwide for its health resorts and hot springs.

Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad in German and Carlsbad in English) has a similar meaning in Check (Charles’ hot springs) and in German (Charles’ baths or health resort). Charles is Karel in Check and its genitive is Karlovy. The word var means boiling and vary is an archaic word for hot springs. In German, Karl means Charles and its genitive is Karls, while Bad means health resort. Thus the German name: Karlsbad.

    • Karlovy: its name comes from the bronze coloured, petrified roses in the hot springs. The model is very similar.
    • Rusalka: one of the 12 hot springs.
    • Pupp: an allusion to the Grandhotel Health resort, for it reminds us of its grandiosidad.
    • Lenka: in memorial of our colaborator Lenka.
    • Smetana: takes its name for the Smetana Hotel and for the souce with the same name that reminds us of the colour of the piece.

Remember, all the characteristics of our series are available in Flickr.

Even though we have been working with the USA for over 20 years now, this will be our first time at Coverings, that has been considered the most important ceramic fair in the United States, where not only people from North America (USA and Canada), but also Central and South America visit.
In spite of the bad situation the global economy is in, this market, the first to suffer the problems, is acting as a stimulus for economy worldwide and that is why we are taking up again, with renewed interest, our position by introducing a whole new range of Natural Stone and using Inkjet technology, that is allowing us to create products “trully” natural in the finest eCollections style.
The fair will take place in April, from the 27th to the 29th. You will be able to follow it live through our web cam and throu pictures uploaded to Flickr.

The fair has already ended. In August we started preparing our new line for wall tiles and installing the new injection machine with all enthusiasm possible; they were work loaded months that required much effort to be ready for Cevisama, our point of reference for starting a new age in our company.
Now it has finished, we are able to have a positive balance that has benefited everyone, because we are opening doors and strengthening new markets. In addition, the acceptance of the new range of products has been great and we want to thank all of our clients for the attention they have paid to us and to those who have visited us in the fair.
This is helping us to continue through the same path and to encourage you to visit us in Mosbuild and Coverings, aswell as visiting our blog and reading our Newsleter. We are confident that new technologies are helping us get closer to our clients, distributors and subscribers and we remind you that as with Cevisama, you will be able to follow us through the webcam that we have prepared. In Valencia, the webcam phenomenon has been a real success because we have had many followers. Who knows, maybe we will need a 24h online channel.
In short, thanks to all of our collaborators and clients for your support and to all the Ceramicas Alcalaten team that has been working at their 200% to allow such a success.
Remember you can check out all the photos for the Valencia event in our Flickr.

The International Ceramics Competition of Alcora celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and prizes will be distributed for the best conceived designs on ceramic material.

For the past 20 years, Cerámicas Alcalatén has co-sponsored this event and we are proud that one of the most prestigious competitions in the world of ceramics will be held in our locale.

Despite the current economic situation, the organization expects similar participation to that of other years; participation in last year’s edition reached a total of 379 works of art from 32 countries across the globe.

The thirtieth competition will be officially launched in Cevisama 2010, and at the same time, the Special Audience Prize of last edition will be preseted to the Japanese ceramist, Ayako Funato.
