    This year 2011 we have introduced many novelties. We have mainly completed our models by introducing decorative tiles that match each series as was needed for this years markets. That is why we would like to focus on each one of the series and introduce their improvements and highlight that many decorative tills will be sold per square meter:

    Japan: the wall tiles come together with matching porcelanic pavement 33×33 for two of its models, Osaka and Kyoto, that cover the series’ chromatic necessity, thus not forcing clients to have stocks of three different models. Likewise, we have 2-tile decorative motives and cenefas that are perfect for their combination for this series and even with some others.     In order to speed up commercial management and comunication with our clients, we have implemented a new software, that will allow us to always keep our clients and agents up to date.

    This improvement will consist of a codified access to a real-time order status; in other words, wether it is available, in the process, loading… It will also include stock availability for the export markets that work on weekends.

    This application will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are sure this will help improve information exchange between our company and our esteemed clients.

    Once two of the most important fairs this year ended, we were able to create a balance, how the fairs went, what the results were and what sensations have been transmitted.

    Cevisama

    The Cevisama fair has been quite intense, with visits before, during and after the fair ended, certainly a positive outcome. This is due to two reasons, the opening of new markets for our products as well as the unexpected visit of many new international clients. It seems to be a great omen and transmits the feeling that something has begun to change.

    On a personal basis, our expectations have been amply met and it seems that in general and in spite of the economic crisis, the ceramic sector has, overall, improved. Compared to other years there have been more visits and sales, which is encouraging for the Castellón province (specialized in the ceramic industry, were we are settled).

    Coverings

    This year, the USA hair has moved to Las Vegas; the west coast of California has welcomed the spanish representation with great weather.The ICEX organization has been perfect and we have come back home very pleased with the work done. Objectives have been met again and new doors have opened in these markets. As we have already mentioned it seems the reactivation has begun.

    The project Rice Fields designed for Beijing’s Biennial on October 2010, has also been present in the
    Transhitos exhibition during the recent Cevisama Fair.

    Visitors had the oportunity to appreciate the magnificent work of the renowned architect José Ramón Tramoyeres, that included part of our products; it has, once again, been a great success and as such we are feeling very proud.

    Beijing’s Architecture biennial was were we, together with ASCER, were able to present the project RICE FIELD. It was carried out by the Valencian architect José Ramón Tramoyeres alongside the Chinese architect Feng Xu, thus bringing together two cultures and using ceramic as a means of fusing them together by using an element common in both cultures, rice. We are grateful to them for trusting us and using our products to create this project.

    We stayed in Beijing for a few weeks supporting Tiles of Spain’s image, and were proud of, and thankful to these architecture professionals who selected us.

    Another summer suffering the crisis is already behind us, one less summer in this uphill battle.

    It has become rather dificult to cope day to day with the numerous drawbacks, that would otherwise seem normal, but that have now become like mountains; suppliers don´t meet expectations, banks are guarding themselves, governing parties don’t help, institutions not much, etc, etc, etc.

    But don’t fret, together we can solve this, at least that is what countless e-mails constantly try to encourage us with, but what they don´t consider, is that we can not forget we are first, and foremost Spanish. What does this mean? It just means that we talk, we plan, we have infinite improvisation capacity, we work long hours, although not all of can count as productive… oh well, we have indeed many qualities, but regretably, acting is not one of them.

    It is simple, but we don’t apply it. This August, Spain (as a whole) was out on vacation, yes, you have not misread it, on vacation, after all since everything has already gone bad, there is no more enthusiasm and no sales, we will go on vacation and let God decide the rest.

    After all we have been through we still haven’t learnt that no one will come and make it all work out. Having said that, we should leave behind ous prosperous lifes where there were many sales and the business world came easy. Everyday, we need to give it our 200%, we need to look at Europe and learn from countries like Germany and acquire their drive to improve.

    Summer or 2010 is already over, will we shine a new light upon 2011?

    Our sales department keeps expanding and we are proud to welcome Ximo Périz and Iryna Kaci, who will be in charge of sales and the Russian-speaking markets, into our team.

    According to the current law and continuing our certificate policy, we are proud to inform that we welcomed the Ucranian technitians from the Seprobukdtuba official laboratory this June, in order to obtain radioactivity and quality certificates (GOST) required for custom clearance and subsequent marketing of our products in Ucrania.

    After a visit to our facilities and the corresponding product analisys in the laboratory, we have been awarded a certificate valid until August 2012.

    Due to an increase in ceramic-press publications where our products have been selected for their design and quality; we have thought about notifying our clients, and thus have created a new section, “Alcalatén in the press“. This way, such information will be available for any comercial use.
